Bathroom remodelling is complex work where you would have to deal with plumbing and electric systems in place. With bathroom remodelling, you are given the choice to hire labourers to help you with the project or just work on your own. Most people would want to go DIY in order to save money but before you consider DIY, make sure you have sufficient skill and knowledge so that you don’t end up wasting time and calling for skilled labourers later on.
Bathroom remodelling does not need to be costly if you know what to do. It isn’t that difficult to conduct if you have the right men with you. Here are some smart remodelling tips that would help make bathroom remodelling easier and better.
- Make sure to have everything you need before starting the project. Think about this, you remove the toilet or the sink but since materials and fixtures can take a while to get to your place, you end up with a non-functional bathroom. Think about all the things you would need from vanity units, toilets and even the lighting and make sure you have them on hand first before you start with the project because waiting for materials and fixtures can be quite frustrating.
- Shop around and consider various options. Sometimes, it would be better to explore all of your options when looking for materials and bathroom fixtures. If you want two ceramic basins on a large oak vanity unit, think about where you’re going to get it. Sometimes it would be cheaper to order online but waiting for the fixture to arrive can be a hassle. Visiting local suppliers can sometimes limit you to what is only available.
- Consider updating the lighting. Illumination is important in bathrooms and you wouldn’t want to have a new bathroom but with old and outdated lighting. New lighting can help make bathroom remodelling more satisfying.
- Call professionals. You wouldn’t want to work on a large and complex project alone. If you’re afraid that you wouldn’t be able to achieve your full vision for your bathroom by hiring labourers, create a master plan that they will follow and make sure that you clear things out with them with their tasks, what tasks they should or shouldn’t be doing.
It doesn’t take a genius to find out his drains are clogged. Remember, if your plumbing has a problem, there will always be signs. For clogged drains, you would first see water pooling around your feet while you’re taking a shower. Sometime later, you would notice a very unpleasant odor. Once you are aware of these signs, and have opted not to take action against it, you would just wake up one morning and realize you have a clogged drain. The problem with clogged drains is that if you ignore them, then they might cause your pipes to burst.
The first thing that you can try to do is to remove all the trapped hair and gunk that had built up in the drain. If it does not work, then you can always try using liquid plumber. If that doesn’t work as well, then you can use the plunger. But if that fails as well, don’t lose hope. There are still a lot of ways to fix your blocked drains.
- Bent Wire Hanger. One of the most simple and effective ways to clear out your drains is by using a regular wire coat hanger and straightening the best you can. After that, bend one end of the wire into a hook then you can start using the wire hanger to reach into the drain and pull the gunk out. Remember, the goal is to pull the material stuck inside and not push it deeper into the drain.
- Baking soda + Vinegar. A traditional method of unclogging drains, mix a third of a cup of baking soda with a third of a cup of vinegar then pour the mixture down the drain quickly. Since the mixture would fizz, this reaction would greatly help in removing the built up gunk inside the drain. Allow it to stay there for over an hour or even overnight then flush with hot water.
- Wet and Dry Shop Vacuum. One of the best ways to unclog a drain is by using a wet and dry shop vacuum to suck all the water out along with the built up debris.
If these don’t work, then maybe it’s time for some comprehensive drain inspection from your local plumber.

The values of housing properties have not yet fully rebounded since their pre-collapse peak. Home modeling meanwhile has already showed some modest signs of gains which is according to the National Association of Home Builders Remodeling Market Index. Most of the reported demand for remodeling is for some major home additions as well as alteration jobs which are usually priced at $25,000 and more. However, there is still a growing demand for some minor home changes.
A remodeling magazine noted that home renovation projects which will typically add the most value to your house are big ticket items like adding vinyl, replacing siding with excellent material like fiber-cement as well as adding wood deck to your house. However, if the above mentioned home renovations are out of your budget and you are looking for a renovation that is just at $1,000, where should you invest in to have a greater pay off?
Experts will tell you that your first priority should be your kitchen. According to a statement released by the National Association of Realtors, the kitchen is the single very important part of the house from the perspective of the home buyer. If you lack the funds to complete a kitchen overhaul, despair not. For as low as $1,000 you can make some dramatic change to your kitchen that the prospective home buyer will look for like:
- Refinishing or refacing your kitchen cabinets. Refacing your cabinet pertains to replacing the cabinet doors but leaving the cabinet intact. The job price will depend on the size of your kitchen. You can have it done for $1000 by a professional or do it for a lesser amount by doing it yourself.
- Changing the countertops. Depending on how large your kitchen is, you may be able to take on new granite countertops for as low as $1000 only. For kitchens which are larger, you might want to consider other options that are less pricey like the solid surfacing products or stainless steel.
After knowing the above considerations to improve your house, you can now contact Addstyle renovations to have the job done efficiently.

The best part of traveling is opening your heart and mind to new experiences. You will meet different people and you will experience various cultures. Travelling however can also become a challenge because you have to ensure that you do not get lost during your tour around a city.
I arrived in Japan on a Friday afternoon and after the long flight I was just too eager to get out of the airport and experience the city of Tokyo. My friend James was patiently waiting for me and we quickly got out of the overcrowded airport to take a bus to where he lives. All around us were thousands of cars and people and it was simply overwhelming.
James accompanied me on the tour around the city. I don’t think I am prepared to face the challenge of visiting Tokyo alone because I would surely get lost in the huge crowd. We walked to the Imperial Gardens and then to the Ginza Shopping Market where we ate a late breakfast at a tiny Ramen Noodle restaurant that tasted authentically Japan.
From there we took a bus to the other side of Tokyo that looks almost like New York Times Square at its busiest. There we met with some of James friends so that we can try the hundreds of vending machines that we found in almost every corner of the arcade. We also tried some of the video games and paid for an hour at a private karaoke booth.
Afterwards, we ate at one of restaurants that serve authentic Japanese cuisine. The meal was typical Japanese with sushi, oysters, rice with miso soup and tempura. Without much hesitation, I grabbed my chopsticks and started on the sushi. It tastes different from the sushi served in Japanese restaurants back home.
